UNITED KINGDOM – November 3, 2022 – PickleJar, the leader in unified live entertainment technology, announced a partnership with GoodBadMad and Double J Productions to host the “Short Film Pitch Competition” to provide young filmmakers with an opportunity to get their ideas made into reality. This competition provides an opportunity for emerging UK-based filmmakers and their teams to get their projects funded and produced. The winning submission will have their film produced by Double J Productions and funded by PickleJar.
“By hosting this competition, we are excited to see the new talent and projects that UK filmmakers have in store and collaborate with them to create a wonderful short which will hit the film festival circuit in 2023,” says Jeff James, PickleJar Chief Executive Officer. “This competition would require the entrant to develop their pitching skills in both written and verbal form in order to receive the financing provided by the competition sponsor.”
The aims of this competition are to encourage the development of independent filmmakers, with emphasis on their pitching skills, which are vital for a career in the entertainment industry. Meg Elys from GoodBadMad and Jennifer James from Double J Productions will act as the competition’s directors and, along with a committee of industry professionals, will choose the final selection to present to PickleJar, who will aid with the final decision.
“There is so much talent out there and we believe so much if it gets hidden because of how hard it is to get financing,” adds Jennifer James, head of Double J Productions. “We want to take that pressure away and open the door for the story to speak for itself and give opportunity to mentor, finance and help these creators make their vision a reality!”
PickleJar will serve as a premier sponsor of the competition, donating $15,000 to fund the winning project. In addition, Double J Productions is on-board to produce and supervise production of the winning project, as well as provide continued mentoring of the successful filmmakers. James is looking forward to supporting emerging filmmakers through the pitch competition.
Submissions to the competition will be accepted from October 17, 2022 and will close on November 30, 2022. The winning filmmaker(s) will be revealed before Christmas and go into production in the New Year. Applicants can apply via the goodbadmad.com website or at the filmfreeway.com.
