Cashless Tipping Platform Will Showcase “Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road” and
“The Fable of a Song”
NASHVILLE – September 27, 2021 – PickleJar, an emerging live entertainment and cashless tipping app, announces today they will be the presenting sponsor of two highly anticipated film premieres at the 52ndNashville Film Festival taking place September 30 – October 6. Hosted by Nashfilm, the 7-day event places an emphasis on films with a heavy music influence. In this role, the brand will be on-site highlighting their core value of “supporting a community of culture.” PickleJar will engage the films’ directors, artists and musicians, as well as both the in-person and virtual audience, to showcase the benefits and capabilities of the PickleJar app.
“From day one, our goal has been to fuel and support the artist creativity,” said Jeff James, chief executive officer of PickleJar. “As a presenting sponsor of these two films, we look forward to introducing PickleJar to festival participants and those who’ve worked tirelessly to bring their art to life. Now fans, both in the audience and watching from the live streams, can easily give money as a show of their support – and, as always with PickleJar, these artists will keep 100%.”
First, PickleJar presents “Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road” on Thursday, September 30. Directed by Brent Wilson and written by Rolling Stone’s Jason Fine, “Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road” is a deeply personal documentary that explores the life and career of the legendary songwriter, composer and producer through a literal and metaphorical road trip exploring Brian’s hometown. With Fine behind the wheel and Wilson selecting the music, the two revisit many of the periods and locations integral in shaping Brian’s life.
PickleJar will also be on-site for “The Fable of a Song” on Saturday, October 2. Directed by Andy Strohl, “The Fable of a Song” follows songwriters Laurel Wright and Wes Lunsford as they are determined to make it big in Nashville alongside thousands of talented musicians. Manager Patryk Larney decides to shoot some footage of Laurel, Wes and cowriter Dean Fields to use for a short social media video and entrusts the editing process to good friend and filmmaker, Andy Strohl. Before one frame can be edited, Wes and Laurel’s lives change in the blink of an eye. Three years later, the entire tragic story is finally told by weaving the footage from the cowriting sessions, archival film and interviews with songwriters, musicians and thinkers.
Following “The Fable of a Song” screening, The Young Fables – the duo featured in the film – will perform.
“Some of the most memorable songs in films have been written and performed by Nashville artists,” said Jason Padgitt, Nashville Film Festival Executive Director. “PickleJar’s sponsorship means that we can further highlight the incredible music used in films and the artists who brought it to life.”
Both PickleJar-sponsored films will be screened at Rocketown in Nashville, TN. For more information, visit NashvilleFilmFestival.org.
